The weekend

I found out on Friday that I have another interview for a job that I applied for. Wish me luck. I think I will need it. The position isn't for an actual vacancy but it is for an upgrade and because it is a goverment job, it has to be listed in the gazette. So the person that is currently doing the job must reapply. The must have an edge on other applicants you would think.

TodayI baked a loaf of bread. Don't you just love the smell of freshly baked bread.

Rexi was inside for a while today. The dog is as bad as a cat. What does she do? The sticky beak decided that to look out of the window, she needed to jump up onto my work table!! She has no table manners at all.

I also made a start on a birthday present.

Managed to get some stitching done this week. This is the siggy quilt from the Perth SCQ retreat.
I have just sent off my money and forms for the next retreat. It will be held in Adelaide next April.

Wet Sunday

Yesterday was rather miserable so I took the opportunity to spend the day sewing. Ist job was to make some flying geese with some chopped off bits from a siggy swap that I did in Perth earlier this year. They started out like this.
The red and black fat quarters are my purchases from Saturday. They will be made into a table runner for a birthday gift.

The siggy squares are now a top. I also added the triangles onto a tabl runner that I had made earlier this year

Where does time go?

Another Dear Jane block finished. Its not perfect by a long shot but as they say "finished is better that perfect.

Today I'm off to my old home town. The local quilt group are staging their quilt exhibition. I'll take my camera and hopefully get some photos.

There will be two shops in attendance also so might have to support them too!

I have applied for another job, and managed to score an interview on Monday afternoon. This is the first time that I have been interviewed by a panel. My outplacement adviser did a great job preparing me. But I have heard nothing. So I will wait. There is also another job online that i have found - Public Servant so will lodge an application for that too. I have scribbled out my notes for the selection cirteria. I find it hard talking about myself.

I have lost and now found the Dear Jane block that I have been working on. Was missing since last Thursday and I found it in my lunch bag today. Now I can finish it.

My sewing room is coming along and starting to get organised . I now have the buffet hutch from the shed and one of the couches has gone to the shed I'm now waiting on Paul to sand and reseal a table that he aquired. That will then beome my cutting table. I shoould be able to store my containers underneath it.
A couple of photos. One from Noosa and a quilt that I made a couple of years ago. Its nice and bright and cheery

Sunny Sunday

I managed to finish off two DJ blocks today. Both I had started earlier and only needed borders added to them.

I then managed to have a play with the DJ software and also Photoshop. I have only had them loaded onto my laptop for a couple of weeks.
After lunch it was off to visit Mum. Also caught up with two sisters. We converged on Mums for afternoon tea. On the drive to Burnie I noticed that all of the snow on the hills has gone.

Time Flys

Well I have been home from Noosa for a week. We had a great time. The weather was kind - even managed to have a swim. Ate out lots and Vicki did a great job driving and showing us around. I even managed to find one patchwork shop and bought a piece of batik for my New York Beauty.

The photo was taken on our last night. Thats Vicki on the left, Colleen in the middle and I'm on the right.

I have started my new job. I feel like I have gone back 15 years. Well 10 anyway. I'm talking about systems and ways of doing things.

I'm also getting my resume organised with help from an outplacment service that was part of my redundancy and have finally applied or a job that was in last weeks newspaper. I will also have help with interviews etc.

Might have to rearrange my sewing room soon. Paul is talking of taking one of the couches out to the shed and bringing an old buffet/hutch back in. Yes that will give me lots of storage room and I should be able to fit in another table.

Off to Noosa

Just a short post as I am off to Noosa today. They tell me it is warm. That will be lovely.

Did some work for another company this week. My brain was in overload. Also trying to get my resume together and watching out for suitable employment. So I only managed 2 days off!

This is the lastest DJ block that I have done

and also a photo of the fabric that I received from the squilters swap - 42 fat 8ths of reproduction fabric.
Cheers for now, I don't think I will take my laptop so won't post again this week.

Sunny Saturday

More flowers arrived yesterday. These are from the CEO. Thank you Simon J. Aren't they just lovely. I would have enjoyed being a florist. Even took some flower arranging classes at Adult Education. My book shelf has Cat Books, quilt books and flower books. A bookshelf full of passion.
I had a phone call this morning to see if I was looking for work and now I have an appointment on Monday. Who knows what is in the future.

I am going to Noosa for a holiday next week. But have to pack most of my gear today. My sister is going on the boat tonight and driving up, so to avoid chasing baggage between flights I will fly up with just my carry on, and my bags will already be there compliments of my sister. We are dining out tonight at Sharkies - a local fish restuarant before her and hubby go on the boat.
Cheers Edie.

What a week

Who would have thought. A lot has happened over the last couple of days.I have accepted a redundancy from work. Unfortunately I cannot afford to retire - but I have some breathing space to find other employment. The flowers are from the lovely crew that I worked with. So whoo nows what direction my life will go in from here. I'll just have to wait and see. At least now I do have some formal qualifications thanks to a Manager who believed in training. I have an appointment next week to get some financial advice and sort out my resume.Perhaps I'll need a lesson in interview techniques seeing its been 28 years since I last had an interview.

So now I will have time to sort my stash, wash my windows and do some gardening . Perhaps I'll make a quilt or two, or perhaps I will just finish one or two.

On a sadder note Paul's mate died suddenly this week, so we have a funeral to attend on Saturday. He was only 47. Very sad.

Little Bag

Trying to post this for the third time. When I was in Hobart at the Craft Fair I bought a kit for this little bag. It was from the Quiltern Barn. The instructions were a bit scarse and some in Japanese, but I got it made. Its cute don't you think.

Cheers Edie
