Kaffe

I took this photo yesterday. I haven't decided yet whether I will put a border on it. Will audition fabric at the weekend. I'm going to Smithton at the weekend for their Friendship Day.

This is a section of one of the blocks that I have started after my class with Michele Hill

Three months later

Doesn't time fly when your having fun. Well Adelaide was most enjoyable. I did a fabulous class with Michele Hill and since coming home have been busy designing blocks for a quilt. I also had a lovely angel called Petra that made me some lovely gifts. She was also a very crafty angel and tricked me good and proper as to who was my angel .

I have also been on a mini retreat about half an hour from here with 4 friends. We hired a house at West Kentish - self catered and have already booked in for next year. We had a great time
once everyone got there after some decided to take the scenic route in the dark!!

I worked on my Adelaide quilt and also sewed a top from my Kaffe Fasset fabric - finally. Will take some photos tomorrow to post.

The owners of the house have built a octagonal room off the house which we used as our sewing room. They views were great.
Cheers Edie

Happy Easter

These are photos of a Little Quilt of Love that I am making to take to Adelaide. Its part of the challenge for the retreat. This is the same fabric that I have used in my siggie squares as I over estimated the amount of fabric needed. Was thinking of squares not triangles. Duh.

Easter buns that I made on Good Friday. All ready to eat

These are the steps along the way. I made them from scratch - no breadmaker help.

I used a receipe that I found in a newspaper a coupe of years ago. Tried a recipe from my breadmaker receipe book a couple of weeks ago but they turned out like rock cakes.

Table Runner

This is the table runnder that I have made for a retreat challenge that I am going to next month. Ran it up over the weekend. Tried my camera on the macro setting and it looks to have done a reasonable job. I've quilted freehand feathers in the centre blocks and a circular swirl in the smaller blocks. Used King Tut varigated thread.

The theme of the retreat is "Wine and Roses"and its being held in Adelaide. Will be rooming with my friend Carleen from Georgetown and can't wait to get there.

I have also nearly finished another quilt - a small one that I started in a class a couple of years ago.
Apart from that I am continuing to hand piece my pie blocks. I have all the segments done so I'm now sewing them into blocks. Think I have over half done now.
The table runner pattern is from http://picturepatchwork.com.au This is my local shop and I am within walking distance. Not sure whether that is a good thing or a bad thing??!!

Camping weekend

Last weekend I went caravaning with my stiching friends. We camped by the river at Deloraine.

Elaine and I stayed Friday and Saturday nights and Jo & Selina joined us on Saturday. I started off on Fri night doing some habd stiching and then on Saturday started quilting my curved quilt that I started in a class and had been basted for a month or so waiting for me. Then when I got bored with that I did a bit more on my New York Beauty. That is foundation pieced and I started it in Oct last year. Its a fill in project at the moment. Jo finally finished her log cabin qulit and it looks great

This is Jo putting in the last couple of stitches

And the finished quilt.

This was our work room in the annex. We had fun and promised to do it again soon.

Hot hot hot

We are in the middle of a heat wave. Most unusual. In the shade yesterday afternoon at home it as 33.4 degrees and in the sun 35.5 degrees. The air con is working overtime to keep us cool inside. Its really hard when you are trying to work. No air con there just open the window and hope for some cross flow ventilation

This is the block that I have been hand piecing this week. Need to make another eleven so I could be a while.
