Baby Quilt

My oldest niece Gretchen and her partner Dave have just beome proud parents to Isaac William. So it was time for a quilt. I had previously started my Kaffe Fasset quilt with one baby in mind, but it grew a little too big. So at the weekend I found some scrappy bargello blocks that I had made and by making one more block, Hey Presto a baby quilt. Well it will be when its finished. I added a black & white border. Bright and cheery don't you think.

Walking the Dog

Todays photo is of Sheean Walk. This is where you will find me and the dog most afternoons after work. It used to be the train line, now it is a walking track that goes from the main street down to the river. It is named after a local war hero. There is usually something interesting to see while walking. I've seen platypus in the creek, echidnas, all sorts of birds rabbits and even a wallaby.Rexi would like to chase the rabbits but isn't allowed!

Happy New Year

Perhaps my New Years resolution should be to post on a more regular basis. We can but try. I usually spend too much time reading others blogs. But I have been doing some sewing, quilting my William Morris quilt. I've outlines all of the applique shapes, then did free form feathers around the applique and now I'm quilting the borders. Straight line for them at 3/4 inch. Now I am going to walk the dog. She missed her walk yesterday. Life got in the way.

All that Jazz

Long time no post. Life just gets in the way sometomes. We are enjoying a week of balmy weather which is a bit unseasonal for this time of year. Usually it would be one day like this. Today at home it was 27 degrees in the sun.

My photo for this post is of a challenge by Devon Patchworks and Quliters organied in conjuntion with our quilt show in August. It was on the same weekend as the Jazz Festival, so we rode on their coat tails. Their colours for the Festicval are Yellow and black and our theme was "JAzz". These are the ones that we made.

And Paul has finally been able to get a disability pension. He has disappointed with the amount, but I did tell his that even if it had only seen $10.00 per week it was better than nothing.

What have I been doing

Thought it was about time for another post. I have been slowly working on my quilt block for "Tribute to Mrs Williams" Its nearly been 12 months since I started this. Just a hand project to take to work anf to quilt group.

I took this photo yesterday. I haven't decided yet whether I will put a border on it. Will audition fabric at the weekend. I'm going to Smithton at the weekend for their Friendship Day.

Three months later

Doesn't time fly when your having fun. Well Adelaide was most enjoyable. I did a fabulous class with Michele Hill and since coming home have been busy designing blocks for a quilt. I also had a lovely angel called Petra that made me some lovely gifts. She was also a very crafty angel and tricked me good and proper as to who was my angel .

I have also been on a mini retreat about half an hour from here with 4 friends. We hired a house at West Kentish - self catered and have already booked in for next year. We had a great time

once everyone got there after some decided to take the scenic route in the dark!!

I worked on my Adelaide quilt and also sewed a top from my Kaffe Fasset fabric - finally. Will take some photos tomorrow to post.

The owners of the house have built a octagonal room off the house which we used as our sewing room. They views were great.
